“At Arm’s Length” by Anna Škodenko
On 10 November at 6 pm, Anna Škodenko’s solo exhibition At Arm’s Length will be opened in Tallinn City Gallery. Depicting fragments and layers of reality, the artist also shows the complex and scatterd nature of the surrounding world, where the whole falls out of hand and it seems impossible to grasp anything. However, this fascinating painting exhibition serves as a confirmation that what is impossible in life becomes possible in art. The curator of the exhibition is Tamara Luuk.
Annual exhibition of the Estonian Glass Artists’ Union “Legendary Times”
Open 12.11.2023 - 9. 03.2024 Opening 11.11.2023 at 16.00 The Earth has been shaken off its axis, and we find ourselves once more living in an era of legends and fairy tales. Before our very eyes, new heroes and new villains are born; an evil cook turns his ladle in the Kremlin, and a ghost dashes about in the sky above Kiev. A legend can sometimes be scary and nightmarish, but ultimately, its purpose is to give hope - to segment a confusing time into intelligible stories with a beginning and an end; to give meaning to lives lost, to show light at the end of the tunnel. In both love and war, the victory belongs to one who tells the more credible story.

How to give structure to something that itself is lacking one? How to present something like that? This is a question of visibility and making visible. What are the means for making visible something that always remains invisible? More precisely: the thing that remains invisible in real life, but of which we can get a glimpse in Crystal Grid, is the structure of capitalism. But how to display something like that?”
