c on November 6th until December 6th, 2026 Artist Jüri Kass's solo exhibition MATTER OF KASS will be opened in Vabaduse gallery on November 6th, 2026 at 5 pm. The artist reflects on the relationship between himself and his work, asking rhetorically what it is to which he has dedicated his exhibition. The career of an artist and designer is related to objects, things and physical bodies. Every tobject has its own story. Every object embodies the past, but can acquire new meaning in the present and point towards the future. A personal memory becomes a symbol whose significance extends beyond its original story. MATTER OF KASS is also a matter of the exhibition viewer – an opportunity to find one’s own memories, feelings and experiences. Which object triggers recognition? Which one touches the viewer personally? The objects, however, have been placed in an unusual state or situation. The familiar and the authentic have been transformed, acquired new meaning and value. Through these objects, the artist raises questions about time and place, keeping close and letting go, loss and discovery.

Exhibition series 1:10 by Association of Estonian Scenographers Exhibition of prosthetic theatre make up and open studio From November 5th to December 6th a group exhibition and open studio Uncovered by the Association of Estonian Scenographers, takes place on the basement floor of Draakoni Gallery. The exhibition features theatrical makeup designs, as well as pieces created during a practical theatrical makeup workshop—some already completed, others currently being crafted on-site in the gallery. The makeup designs, and the prosthetic makeup elements being created based on them, focus on the areas of the body left uncovered by the costume. Theatrical makeup is an essential tool for a scenographer. Whether paired with a costume or used independently, it defines a character’s appearance. It speaks to the audience, provides subtext, and transforms the actor’s physique. By painting the face and body, it creates an illusion through the shaping of form—highlighting and amplifying precisely what the stage lights seek to wash out.

Või kui seda otstarvet polegi kunagi olnud? 5. novembril Draakoni galeriis avataval näitusel „Raamistik“ esitleb Eestis resideeruv Briti kunstnik Bob Bicknell-Knight valikut oma uutest ja viimastel aastatel valminud teostest. Näituse keskmes on kunstniku senine suurim, töömahukaim ja tehniliselt ambitsioonikaim skulptuur, mis on teatud mõttes endiselt valmimisjärgus.

On Thursday, 5 November, Beginner’s Luck, a group exhibition by Sten Ojavee, Hanna Samoson and Mathias Väärsi opens at Hobusepea Gallery.

On 5 November at 5.00 pm, the exhibition ‘Holy Darkroom’ will open at the HOP Gallery. Jewellery artist Kristiina Laurits will present her work from the past year to the public. The exhibition will feature both jewellery and art objects.   The materials used by Kristiina Laurits have always been unusual, unexpected and thought-provoking, and this is no exception. In the jewellery installation being created at the Hop Gallery, the artist leaves culture behind and, quite literally, buries herself beneath a tree root. Her jewellery – formed from a mixture of earth – kisses and golden fingerprints hover at the edge of the earth’s surface, sometimes revealing themselves, sometimes concealing themselves. Nature has reclaimed what is hers – the earth is genuine and the darkroom is sacred, and nothing else matters at all.   A joint guided tour of the Artists’ Union galleries exhibitions will take place on 19 November at 5.00 pm.   The exhibition has been designed by film production designer Katrin Sipelgas.  

On Friday, 9 October at 5:00 PM, the exhibition You Were Selected This Time by Katariin Mudist and Keithy Kuuspu will open at the Tallinn City Gallery. The exhibition will remain open until 29 November. The first version of the exhibition took place at the Tartu Art House in early 2025. However, something almost anticipated by the exhibition happened in the meantime. The exhibition tackling themes of recognition and the experience of being overlooked received the Annual Award for Visual and Applied Arts of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia. Thus, the new version of the exhibition at the Tallinn City Gallery will take place from an already changed position.

On 27 August at 17:30, Maryliis Teinfeldt-Grins solo exhibition It Is the Wind Which Swells the Sails will open at the Draakon Gallery. Continuing the themes explored in her previous exhibitions, Teinfeldt-Grins approaches landscape as an archive, a layered carrier of memory shaped by political power and human intervention. As the artist herself has said: „The momentum begins to fade. The highway falls behind, and the road grows narrower. The landscape, which at first unfolds as distant and unfamiliar, gradually begins to reveal itself. The edges of forests, strips of fields and bends in the road that moments ago were merely features of the scenery become landmarks. One could swear that, as the speed slows, time itself eases its pace.

On 27 August at 6:30 PM, the artist Andre Joosep Arming’s debut solo exhibition Chain Reaction will open at the Hobusepea Gallery with a festive, Renaissance-themed masquerade ball, directed by Linda Mai Kari. The exhibition is an exploration of human fragility, solitude, adaptation and perseverance, focusing on the tension field between the ending of life and new beginnings. The exhibition will remain open until 27 September. Chain Reaction is about celebrating the joy of existence and the privilege of being alive. Arming’s works serve as a poignant reminder to inhabit the present fully, with complete intensity, despite not knowing what the future holds. The artist adds: “I would like to remind everyone and acknowledge that life is hard, but it is worth it.”

On 28 August at 5:00 PM Külliki Järvila’s exhibition Apocalyptic 7 will open at the Vabaduse Gallery. The apocalypse referred to in the title is a Greek word that means ‘removing the cover’ or ‘revealing the hidden’ – the exhibition should be read as a vision of the world, and the role humans play in preserving it.

On Thursday, 30 July at 6:00 PM, the group exhibition Joie de Vivre will open at the Tallinn City Gallery, featuring the artists Andre Joosep Arming, Katrin Enni, Aksel Haagensen and Silvia Sosaar. The exhibition observes life as a process, wherein growth and decay, invasion and extinction are parts of the whole, striving for balance yet perhaps not achieving it. The four participating artists each tackle these subjects based on their own practices. Personal memories, bodily experiences, absurdity and environmental tact converge to produce an exhibition that is in bloom and in collapse, playful and melancholic. Andre Joosep Arming’s installation ∞ miracle combines personal memories with a desire for visibility and presence. Experiences detailed on bed sheets portray new locations, fears and relationships as parts of everyday change. The work tackles life as a cycle in which experiences are collected, cleansed and forgotten, in order to start over again.
