Uno Roosvalt’s anniversary exhibition Home Shores, inspired by homely motifs, is open at the Vabaduse Gallery from 24 July. The exhibition is being curated by Katariina Pruus and it will remain open until 26 August.
The exhibition features a comprehensive and contemplative ensemble of the artist’s most recent work, where nature and man, creator and creation come together and merge into a harmonious whole. The selected works highlight Roosvalt’s distinctive style, offering compositionally engaging insight into the lifelong dialogue of a master with his surrounding environment.
On 23 July at 5:30 PM the painter Johanna Mudist will open her solo exhibition Little Man at the Hobusepea Gallery. Mudist depicts the human figure in proportion to nature: as small.
Through her practice, Mudist examines how humans relate to their surroundings, to other people, animals and the various elements of the natural world. In her paintings, the boundaries between humans and nature dissolve, become distorted or disappear altogether. Similarly to the melting figures that merge, reappear or dissipate, there is also a breaking down of familiar categories: human and nature, strong and weak, large and small.
The solo exhibition Selected Constraints by Vano Allsalu (curated by Liisi Kõuhkna) is open from 23 July at the Draakon Gallery. The exhibition can be viewed as a continuation of his 2014 exhibition Motive at the same gallery. Undoubtedly, both the artist and the world have changed during this time, yet the questions of (artistic) freedom, the artist's message and motivation remain relevant.
