The Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art is proud to announce artist Merike Estna has been selected to represent Estonia at the 61st Venice Biennale. The 61st International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia takes place in 2026.
The artist for the Estonian pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale will be selected by an international jury consisting of Chus Martínez, Hendrik Folkerts, Lolita Jablonskiene, Maria Arusoo, Anu Allas and Maria-Kristiina Soomre.
We welcome applications from all types of creative practitioner (including visual artists, architects, filmmakers, writers, musicians, performing artists and those working across disciplines or in collaboration). We offer 2 or 4 week winter residencies which begin on Sundays and end on Saturdays. The winter residency offers an intimate and peaceful time in an island environment and is suitable for work that requires concentration or just time for self-reflection.

The Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art announces the open call for artists to represent Estonia at the 61th Venice biennale in 2026. The artists need to present a proposal which would introduce the main focus of the candidate’s previous works and express and detail the motivation to work with the national pavilion’s project at the biennale. The proposal must be submitted by 30 September 2024.
