From tanks to pools, and everything in between

08.01.2024

Red coronation flowers . Floor mops . A story from Livonia . Billboard pollution. Black nail varnish. Migrating creatures.

What can feminist narratives depict us about the current state of the country we live in? As the commercial and state owned platforms choose their narratives, so do we.

We invite you to Maria Kapajeva’s studio “Circle in cube” in Lasnamäe to be part of the first video works screening and discussion of “From tanks to pools, and everything in between” curated by Daylight project.

The show will feature video installations of artists, that use their practice and experience to question and challenge everyday structures from personal, to collective. They explore the silenced gaze, through cameras in their resource and politicise them through realising them into works of art to be discussed and dwelled on in a shared space.

Artists featuring in the screening : Maria Kapajeva, Ulvi Haagensen, Mia Tamme, Rodion Furs, Hanna Samoson, Nadya Tyushka.

Through opening up a reflective and critical approach to the medium of video art, we open access to collective memory. The video works screening aims to guide focus to intergenerational dialogue, addressing contexts of space, cultural trauma and (national) identity on personal and structural extent. But also, address pressing issues like ecology, care work and gender.

NB! Attendance is free, but keep in mind that this event takes place with intention of building an active community surrounding video art. The event takes place in a private space, thus, the number of attendees is limited and only with prior registration. The address will be sent to your mail with a ticket.
Everyone curious to engage in discourses shared by feminist video practice and open discussions is welcomed.
