Professional artists in various art mediums from all over the World are invited to apply for Openart that is taking place in Örebro, in the summer of 2021.
The application is digital and you access it through the Openart website. The application is open between February 3rd and March 30th 2020. Artists can both apply as individual or as a Group/collective with already existing artwork or new ideas to develop and produce.
In the previous edition of Open Call, 437 applications were submitted and 15 of these were invited to participate in the exhibition
– We are so excited to see what we get from this year’s Open Call. Our ambition is to invite even more this time for the next year’s exhibition, says Sofia Gustafsson, Manager for Open Call and Coordinator at Openart
New for this year is that Openart has also chosen to highlight four individual areas that artist can apply to. For example two of the main streets of Örebro, Kungsgatan and Köpmangatan, that we hope to activate in 2021. You can also apply with an interactive artwork that in different ways activate the visitors or creates encounters, or if you find ways to include art in or on our exhibition cubes.
When the application process is over in March 30th proceeds a selection process with jury selecting artists to participate in the exhibition in 2021. The Jury process is a bit different compared to earlier years by consisting of more Jury formations; An art jury, the peoples jury and the kids jury.
– We hope to open up for a stronger presence from the inhabitants of Örebro and will make it possible for people to apply for this jury shortly. Information about this will be stated on our website as well as on our social media, says Elin Persson, Manager at Openart.
