On Thursday, September 18 at 7 pm an artist talk will be held at the exhibition Anatomy of Dust.
In conversation with the artists are curator Kati Ots and chemist Heron Vrubel. The talk focuses on the intersections of art, science and public space.
The discussion will be held in English.
Kati Ots is a cultural worker, lecturer and curator interested in public space, cultural policy, accessibility and sustainability. She explores curation and art practices in the context of social justice and activism, covering topics from monumental misogyny to toilet advocacy. Currently, Ots' co-curated urban space exhibition "Shaping the Unclaimed" is open at the Kaubamaja intersection as part of Tallinn Photo Month.
Heron Vrubel is a chemist who works in the field of electrolysis, developing catalysts for facilitating the production of hydrogen. Additionally, he is collaborating at the MUUSA Studio with Kärt Ojavee and Juss Heinsalu, focusing on material explorations and design.
Juss Heinsalu is an Estonian artist based in Tallinn. His autonomous research-creation process explores the embodiment of life in clay, merging scientific hypothesis, mythological and ethnographic knowledge with material-led studio practice. Heinsalu holds a degree in ceramics from the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) and received his MFA at NSCAD University in Nova Scotia, Canada. Currently, he is an associate professor and the head of the Craft Studies MA programme at EKA.
Kim Morgan is a Canadian visual artist working in multi-media installation and public space. Her work explores the impact of technology on people’s perceptions of time, space, and the body, and the shifting boundaries between the private and the public. Morgan is a professor at NSCAD University, Canada, and a PhD candidate at the Estonian Academy of Arts.
