Rules of participation and application form is available https://www.jurmala.lv/lv/4-starptautiska-makslas-biennale-marina-2023

Biennale is organized by the Jurmala Museum with co-operation with Jūrmala History and Art Society and support of Jūrmala local government.

The Biennale “Marīna 2023” addresses the personal mythological sea-related experience. Every person who has been to the sea at least once as a child has encountered a magical story or a mythical adventure with seemingly no logical explanation. Humans have always been fascinated by the unfathomable world hidden by the mirror-smooth surface.

Curator of biennale “Marīna 2023” Inga Bunkse invites artists to indulge their most profound childhood memories or lifetime experiences, or feelings created by the inexplicable. To remember the games and activities of childhood featuring something of the mysterious rite of eternity or the ceremonies of adults' “secret knowledge” designed for learning the twists and turns of nature and human drives.
