Kristina Õllek & Laura Kuusk at Art-o-rama art fair

22.08.2022

This week, from August 25 to 28, Foku will represent Kristina Õllek at the art fair Art-o-rama in Marseille, France. From August 19, artist Laura Kuusk is represented in the selection of digital artworks at the Immaterial Salon online platform, an extension of the art fair.

By Kristina Õllek a selection of works from the series “Filter Feeders, Double Binds & Other Silicones” (2019- ...) will be presented in Marseille. Using the example of the North Sea as an example of the effects of human activity on the ecological balance of the world's oceans, the project enters into a dialogue with the coastal area of Marseille and raises burning questions from the point of view of nature conservation.

Kristina Õllek is the first Estonian artist to be represented at Art-o-rama, an art fair dedicated to contemporary art, and her participation has already been noticed by The Steidz magazine and in the advisory selection of Ocula gallery network.

> Also read an interview with the artist in the latest Foku monthly #4, August 2022 (in Estonian).

Through Art-o-rama's online exhibition, Immaterial Salon, you can listen to the audio meditation part of Laura Kuusk's installation “How to Move Like a Slime Mold” (2021) regardless of place and time. The work, first put together as an installation and performance for the Tallinn Photomonth ‘21 contemporary art biennial main exhibition “Intensive Places” (curated by TOK / Maria Veits and Anna Bitkina) at the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia (EKKM), leads visitors on a journey through his/her/their bodies to suggest an experience of becoming an other-than-human organism.
