Jass Kaselaan’s personal exhibition “Sheep”

14.10.2019

On Thursday, 17 October at 6 p.m. Jass Kaselaan’s personal exhibition “Sheep” will be opened in the small gallery of the Tartu Art House.

The exhibition „Sheep” consists of sculptures resembling human heads on shelves and a photo depicting sheep. Jesus has said: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me and I give unto them eternal life. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”

The artist thinks that the first sentence of the previous paragraph would have sufficed to describe the exhibition but in that case the press release would have probably been too short.
Jass Kaselaan (b 1981) has studied sculpture in the Tartu Art School and in the Estonian Art Academy. He has been awarded the Anton Starkopf and Kristjan Raud art awards and won the 2014 Köler Prize. In 2015, the Tartu Artists’ Union organised the exhibition of his Köler Prize work in the Riga Arsenāls (curator Indrek Grigor). Kaselaan has previously had three personal exhibitions in the Tartu Art House of which “The Lighthouse” in 2016 was the last.

The exhibition is open until 10 November.
