Rüki residency opened its doors In Viljandi in the same complex with Rüki gallery

19.09.2023

Rüki residency was created with the aim of offering creative people the opportunity to conduct their own artistic practices in the atmospheric Old Town of Viljandi, thereby bringing change to one’s daily routine.

Residency rooms are located on the roof floor of a barn building built in the 19th century in the inner quarter of Tartu street. In addition to the studio located in the apartment, the resident has the opportunity to use the gallery space during the residency period, in case the gallery holds no exhibition at the time. The residence apartment has everything necessary to support a good and inspiring work flow.

"No direct conditions or obligations are imposed on the creative for the duration of their residence. The main goal is to offer creative people a place to concentrate their thoughts and draw inspiration for the next projects, an alternative to working in peace. At the same time, if there is interest, there is an opportunity to take advantage of the existence of the community, cooperate with the people operating in Viljandi and various cultural institutions," Triinu Jürmann, the gallerist of Rüki comments the reasons behind the residency.

The period of residency is up to two months and generally the resident must cover residency’s costs. More information can be found on Rüki’s
