Call for applications :: Summer School of Socially Engaged Art

We are happy to invite applications to the ISSP Summer School of Socially Engaged Art that will take place from 23 - 30 July at Rucka Art and Residency centre in Cēsis, Latvia. 

The summer school is designed to inspire and support artists and practitioners, share tools and practices, as well as to develop a network of individuals, communities and institutions working at the intersection between art and social activism in Latvia and neighbouring broader Baltic region - Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Belarus and Ukraine.  

 The programme will be fascilitated by Liene Jurgelāne and Agnieszka Bulacik from new visions, with workshops and interventions by inspiring artists, activists and practitioners - Festival Y, Viktorija Kolbešnikova and Augustas Čičelis (Lithuanian queer archive), Rafal Milach (Archive of Public Protest, Sputnik Photos), Liene Ozoliņa (Academy of Culture of Latvia), Demelza Watts, and more. 

 Artists, activists, culture professionals, community workers and other creatives whose practice deals with social and human rights issues are welcome to apply. 

Application deadline: 12 June 2022. We will inform all the applicants during the week of 13 - 17 June. 

We expect to have 30 participants all in all.
