Peer-to-Peer Programme: Estonia and the Netherlands edition

01.02.2022

The Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art and the Mondriaan Fund are pleased to announce a special edition of the Peer-to-Peer Programme, a joint initiative connecting artists with art professionals in Estonia and the Netherlands. We are now seeking five Estonian artists (based in Estonia or originally from Estonia) to participate in the programme.

About the programme
The Peer-to-Peer Programme is a joint initiative connecting artists and art workers across Europe for professional discussions and network building. The programme acts as a response to the needs declared by artists to dialogue with art professionals across disciplines and regions. These individuals are carefully matched by each organisation, who will offer a shortlist specifically tailored with each artist in mind. The artist will determine the final match-up for each of their meetings.

Participating artists in the Peer-to-Peer Programme will have a total of two online meetings with two art partners of their choosing. These sessions are intended to support cross-cultural and transdisciplinary relationships, gain professional critical dialogue on your work, foster intellectual and dynamic discussions, and cultivate new meaningful connections for future collaborations. The programme aims to organise the space and time needed for open-ended and mindful peer-to-peer enrichment. The project plans to foster professional development within the field of contemporary art, ecologically and transculturally. Originating as a response to the COVID 19 pandemic, it acknowledges both the need to exchange knowledge and act virtually. The programme hopes to continue using remote communication systems in the future—an endeavour in response to our current conditions and as an enduring platform to address the adverse global impact of air travel.

The programme was originally established by: Danish Art Foundation, Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art, Flanders Arts Institute, Frame Contemporary Art Finland, IASPIS – The Swedish Arts Grants Committee’s International Programme for Visual and Applied Art, Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art, Mondriaan Fund, Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA), and Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia. In 2022, Estonia and Netherlands organize a special edition in order to connect Estonian and Dutch artists and art professionals, as part of a larger collaboration framework, growing from the fact that Estonia will be invited into the historical Dutch pavilion in the 59th Venice biennial in 2022.

How to apply?
All Estonian artists (based in Estonia or originally from Estonia) are invited to apply. In order to decrease artists’ workload involved in participating in the competition, and simplify the process of application, we have put together an online form which needs to be filled here. No additional materials are needed to present when applying.

The deadline for application is February 21st.

Five artists are selected by the CCA team. When selecting the participants, the diversity of gender identities, different age groups, regional and ethnic backgrounds are considered.

All artists will receive a fee of €100 for each meeting which includes the meeting and preparations for it.

Selections will be announced in the end of February. Meetings will start in March 2022.
