Apply for exhibition time from the Helsinki Artists’ Association galleries by 30 November 2023!
The call is now open for spring and autumn terms 2025 at Gallery Katariina, HAA Gallery and Malmitalo gallery! The open call invites individual artists as well as artist groups and art organisations to submit new, topical proposals with focus on contemporary art. Exhibition proposals are binding.
The proposals will be evaluated by the Exhibition Committees at Helsinki Artists' Association. More on the galleries below and on the association's website.

Gallery Katariina
By re-opening the legendary Gallery Katariina after a few years’ break, Helsinki Artists’ Association brought one of the scene’s most iconic galleries back to the centre of Helsinki.
Each exhibition period is four weeks in duration. The exhibition rent includes the supervision and cleaning of the gallery space as well as the communications and marketing. The artist is responsible for the transportation of the artworks, setting up and taking down the exhibition, insurances, and for the food and drink served at the opening.
Gallery spaces and fees:
The gallery space measures ca 55 m2
The rent: The total rent is 1000 €, 800 € for members of Helsinki Artists' Association. The discount applies also to groups, if at least half of the group members are current members of HAA.

HAA Gallery
HAA Gallery at Suomenlinna Sea Fortress welcomes new proposals for topical contemporary art exhibitions. Proposals including additional programme are encouraged.
Tens of thousands of visitors visit HAA Gallery every year. Unique in atmosphere, the gallery space is suitable for organising diverse exhibitions and events, including media art displays (equipment list below). Each exhibition period is four weeks in duration, and the exhibition periods can be applied for once a year. The exhibition rent includes the supervision and cleaning of the gallery space as well as the communications and marketing. The artist is responsible for the transportation of the artworks, setting up and taking down the exhibition, insurances, and for the food and drink served at the opening.

the whole gallery space 204m² (two halls), fee 1,200 €
Hall 1, 114m², fee 700 €
Hall 2, 90m², fee 600 €
Members of the Helsinki Artists’ Association are entitled to a member discount of 10% on all rents.

Malmitalo gallery
Malmitalo gallery displays diverse contemporary art in collaboration with Helsinki City.
Malmitalo gallery is a rather small but interesting exhibition space, located in one of the regional cultural centres of the city. In addition to the cultural centre, Malmitalo hosts an adult education centre, a library, and a music institute. The cultural centre organises exhibitions, concerts, theatre performances, film screenings, and children’s events etc. In total, Malmitalo houses over 400 events annually.
Malmitalo Gallery is located on the building’s ground floor next to the main entrance. The height of the space varies and one of the walls is slightly curved. Each exhibition period is four weeks in duration. There is no exhibition fee for the exhibitions in Malmitalo's gallery. Exhibition services include electronic surveillance and cleaning of the space, communications and marketing and arrangements for the opening. The artist is responsible for setting up and taking down the exhibition, and for insurances.
